Michael Young
Health / PE

The staff and students here Lemon Bay would like to welcome back a former teacher, who has decided to come back to the home of the Manta Rays. John Michael Young will be teaching P.E and helping the students stay fit and have fun.

Young grew up in Jeffersonville, Indiana. In high school he was very active on the baseball, basketball, and cross country teams. He attended Oakland City University on a baseball scholarship.

Besides baseball, Young enjoys many other sports. In his spare time he enjoys boating and golfing. Since he is a P.E teacher, it would have to be a good guess he enjoys watching sports as well. Young likes to tune in when the New York Yankees, the Indiana Pacers and the Indianapolis Colts are playing. Though Young enjoys sports, he also enjoys teaching just as well.

Young became a teacher, "To be involved and active with students and the community. I want to be able to help make a difference in some of my students' lives." Young has a great influence on his students; however, he enjoys talking to fellow staff members as well.

In his travels around campus, Young has been able to talk to both the staff and students, and he has nothing but positive things to say, "This is great staff with awesome students; it's just a great community all around." Young will be teaching freshman through seniors this year, though he has taught in elementary school in the past. Young stated, "I enjoy the interaction with high school students; also, I like the events and activities that are planned throughout the year."

Lemon Bay staff has many new additions this year, but it is always great to see old friends and meet new. Young is happily welcomed back, and he is glad to be back as well.
