Roberta Ruxton was born in Bay Shore, New York. She moved to Florida specifically to teach in Charlotte County. She has been teaching at Lemon Bay High School since 2001. Previously, Ruxton taught at Charlotte High School and the State University of New York at Farmingdale. Ruxton currently teaches Family Consumer Science. She also is the sponsor of the Foods Club and Alex's Lemonade Stand.
Ruxton attended college at the State University of New York at Farmingdale, the State University of New York at Cobleskill, and The City University at Queens and CW Post University. She earned an Associates of Arts and Sciences degree in Food Technology, a Bachelors degree in Food and Nutrition, and a Masters degree in Public Administration. Her favorite subject at school was biology because she had a "really cool teacher." While Ruxton did not always aspire to be a teacher, her son inspired her to move in that direction. Ruxton rates her experiences at Lemon Bay as an A+ and said "I enjoy teaching immensely." Ruxton describes herself as "busy, busy, busy," but she does have time for a little rest and relaxation.
Ruxton has one son, who has given her a grandson and one daughter. She also has a black lab that is living out her retirement and a yellow Guidedog puppy who she and her husband are raising for the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind. Ruxton enjoys doing yoga and taking walks with her husband and the dogs in her spare time. Her dream destination for a vacation includes any place with mountains. If she could have any one wish, Ruxton would ask for world peace.
