Van Lloyd Grimm is a much admired history teacher at Lemon Bay High School. He has lived in this area since 1979, has three children, Nathaniel, 31, Christian, 26, and Andrew, 25, and holds a bachelors degree from Clarion State College in Clarion, Pennsylvania.
Although this is his second career of only seven years, Grimm loves every minute of it. He is currently in his seventh year, over all, of teaching, but before he came to Lemon Bay, Grimm worked for the Department of Juvenile Justice Academic Program, where he encountered some very interesting people. "While teaching in the Juvenile Justice System, a student hit me over the head with a chair, and she wasn't even in my class!"
"I received the opportunity to teach in the Charlotte County School District, and specifically Lemon Bay, as a direct result of the friendship my son Christian established with his teacher at Charlotte High School. I am very glad for the opportunity. I decided to pursue teaching at Lemon Bay because I saw it as a great opportunity." Grimm has been a part of the Lemon Bay team for five years now and loves teaching here because, "it still has that community feeling."
Being a full time teacher may seem like it would take up most of Grimm's time; however, he always finds time to work on some home improvement projects, enjoy watching a good game of football, read up on his two favorite subjects, travel and history, or just sit down to his favorite books Tuesdays With Morrie and Mad Mad Mad Mad World.
Grimm works very hard to perform his job to the fullest, and this attribute certainly shines through in the way he runs his classroom.
