Lemon Bay High School welcomes a few friendly faces to campus each year. One in particular, Tennille Newell, is a new English teacher.
Born but not raised in Ohio, Newell spent most of her teenage years growing up all over the place. She attended 13 different schools before graduating high school.
Now she has been happily married for two years to a fellow teacher. Newell has a boxer named Magglio that she's had for a little over a year, and her husband owns tropical fish and poison dart frogs.
Newell graduated from a small Christian college named Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee with a bachelors degree in psychology. I loved it there. College is one of the best times in life. She also attended USF for her masters in English education. She plans to complete her doctorate because teaching has always been a lifetime goal.
When Newell was in third grade, her teacher made a positive impact on her and gave her the gift of inspiration. Ever since then, she has had a passion to have the chance to inspire other students as my teachers inspired me. It wasn't the fact that these teachers favored her more than others, it was that they cared for their students and made learning enjoyable, which is what Newell set out to do over the years. Newell teaches ENC 1101 composition and English IV British literature. She started off at Red Rose School in England for a year and switched to Sarasota School of Arts & Science for the next four years. Shortly afterwards, Newell taught at Manatee School for the Arts in Palmetto, Florida, and now Lemon Bay is grateful to have her here in Englewood.
Lemon Bay would like to give a warm welcome to Newell and wish her a great school year.
