There is a new teacher on the block, and her name is Gayle Boyle. Boyle is the new biology, marine science, and honors marine science teacher here at Lemon Bay High School. Lemon Bay is happy to have her as she begins her 6th year of teaching.
Previously, Boyle taught in North Florida schools a variety of sciences including Marine Science II honors, anatomy and physiology, and honors biology. Marine science is my passion, I love getting kids involved in issues that pertain to them, giving them a voice. Her goals for the year include getting settled in and getting used to waking up at 5:15 in the morning.
Boyle received her AA at Manatee Community College. She then transferred to Florida Gulf Coast University where she received her Bachelors in Environmental Science with a concentration on Marine Systems, and she is working on her Masters degree.
The Boyle family had lived in Englewood once before but moved to North Florida for a change in scenery. We moved from the area 5-6 years ago thinking that North Florida might be nice, and it was, but there is no place like Englewood. Boyle's son graduated from LBHS in 2002, and she has two daughters, one who is a sophomore and one who will be joining us at Lemon Bay next year. I have great respect and faith in the teachers here and feel very lucky to be working with such an awesome group.
Boyle has many interesting hobbies. She loves outdoor activities like running and scuba diving; she also owns five horses. She has been a part of a Siberian rescue operation, and she used to volunteer at Mote Marine Aquarium. She has also worked with a whale and dolphin rehabilitation center as well as the Marine Mammal Stranding Program. I have missed this area so much; it is hard to believe that I stayed away as long as I have.
Lemon Bay is very proud to have an involved member of the wildlife community join us teaching the wonderful world of marine science.
