The mission of Lemon Bay High School is to inspire students, teachers, and parents to form a community of learners to promote excellence through a varied curriculum, to provide the tools necessary to foster positive contributions to our society and instill a commitment to academic and personal achievement.

All students can and should learn. Each student has individual value with unique gifts and needs, intellectual, physical, social and emotional. Our chief priority as a school is to help students learn. Parents, students, and staff must work together to form an effective community that supports learning. High expectations and clear goals will promote excellence in our students. Our school must foster and instill a commitment in our students to continue our achievement beyond high school. Students learn in a variety of ways. A varied curriculum is necessary to address those differences.

Lemon Bay High School located in Englewood, Florida, serves students from Charlotte, Sarasota, and Lee counties.  It is located in Charlotte County with Englewood itself being an unincorporated town.  The beautiful Gulf of Mexico washes the shores of its western boundary, Manasota Key Road lies to the north, the Myakka River is on the eastern perimeter, and the world famous Boca Grande Pass is to the south part of the school's district.  Being recognized by Money Magazine as one of the best places to live has established this region as one of Florida's fastest growing residential areas.

We are the Manta Rays!  Perhaps one of the only high schools in the United States to have such a distinction, Lemon Bay High School shares its mascot with the new Major League baseball team in Tampa Bay known as the Devil Rays (a milder version of the same animal).  These beautiful creatures swim in the waters of Lemon Bay and the nearby Gulf.

The anchor of Englewood could be described as the Lemon Bay High School Performing Arts Center.  This beautiful facility serves the school's performing arts as well as events of similar nature for the entire area.  As past graduates have said many times, Lemon Bay High School has a beautiful campus very similar to a college setting.  Many classrooms are clustered around a center courtyard of native slash pine trees, gardens, grass, walkways and benches.  Lunchtime finds many of the students enjoying the beautiful setting and of course the Florida sunshine.  Our athletic facilities serve all the traditional high school offerings in the modernized gymnasium, swimming pool, tennis courts, football/soccer field, baseball, and softball fields. The recently completed technology laboratories are among the most modern in the state.

Lemon Bay High School has a population of over 1350 students in grades 9-12. Continued cooperation with the surrounding communities serving the school enables our students to receive scholarship assistance for education after high school graduation.  In the past few years this local commitment has exceeded $250,000 per year for LBHS graduates!

Our school's curriculum embraces several opportunities to pursue college credits as early as the sophomore year.  Dual enrollment classes sponsored by Edison Community College, and the close proximity to Manatee Community College that encourages early credit enrollment, as well as Advanced Placement courses taught by highly qualified instructors offers students the means to earn college credit while still in high school.  We are proud of the post high school résumés of our students and feel the educational foundation they receive here will prepare them for success in any college or university setting.

We welcome you to our Web page and encourage you to visit us first-hand. Please call, we'd be happy to answer any questions.  We don't think you can find anywhere in the United States that has more community and school spirit than Lemon Bay High School; the Home of the Manta Rays!
