January/February
Dear Parents and Students,
Happy New Year!
As we begin the 3rd quarter grading period and our 2nd semester, there are several important dates we'd like to tell you about. First, students return to school on Wednesday, January 4th. Teachers and other staff will be on campus on the 3rd preparing for student's return.
Also, as we start the new year, teachers will be completing the process of packing and preparing to move to new classrooms, whether they are moving into the newly constructed building or moving to the cafeteria building there will be a lot of movement to new classes on campus in January.
Along with the excitement of new classrooms for most of the campus, we also have some other important events and information we'd like to share with our 9th grade families:
On February 7th, Jay Asher, NY Times bestselling author of Thirteen Reasons Why and co-author of the newly released The Future of Us, will be visiting LBHS. Mr. Asher will be speaking in the auditorium for three author sessions, each followed by an autograph session. Copies of both books will be available for purchase prior to, and on the day of, his visit. Students who have read one or both books are welcome to attend a session. If not attending with a reading or English class, students must see Mrs. Sloan in the media center for a field trip form.
Students may participate in the Florida Teens Read Award Program, a voluntary state-wide reading program, by reading at least 3 of the 15 nominated titles on display in the media center. Voting will take place online during the month of April. For more information and a list of this year's titles, visit the following website:
